This week, we highlight the case of Phillip Timothy Howard, the former Florida Attorney, United States of America, who was sentenced for racketeering conspiracy, wire fraud, and money laundering.

Howard was associated with an Enterprise, a Tallahassee law firm, and several other investment companies and was involved in racketeering activities, including wire fraud and money laundering. Howard also misrepresented the true nature of investment companies’ funds and investments made by former NFL players.

Howard also solicited investment in a real estate project in Jacksonville, Florida, promised the investor certain investment returns within a specified period. After the investor transferred money to the investment company, Howard and an employee falsely asked for more money to close the real estate deal. The investor transferred additional proceeds, and was informed that the funds were secure and would be returned to her. Howard fraudulently obtained and attempted to obtain over USD 0.5 Mn from this investor via this conduct.
